The key feature of the bike is its powerful motor. Generally, fat bikes are heavier than normal mtb and they do not produce desired speed on paved roads. But as the mountaineer is an electric fat bike and comes with a powerful 350w BLDC rear hub motor, so this problem you won’t experience with this electric bicycle. The motor is capable of generating up to 51nm torque which means it has good pickup power despite being heavy. So incline ride won’t be a problem with it. Even, though the speed of the bike is very much decent, on average it gives you around 30kmph of speed.
Apart from these, to execute all the functions properly, the company is using a 17A controller on this bike. Where most electric bicycles come with either a 15A or 16A controller. So it is a good thing that the company is providing a powerful controller along with the powerful 350w motor. So the performance will be much faster and smoother on this electric fat bike.
Battery And Its Range:
There are two battery options the bike comes with – 10Ah and 15Ah. But the good thing is the company is using “A” grade Panasonic cells for its battery pack. The batteries are efficient and come with 1000 charging cycles. But as it’s an electric fat bike, so range will be less compared to a normal electric cycle. As per the company’s claim, the bike gives you 40km of riding range on throttle mode. Whereas, on pedal assist mode, this bike can go around 60km. Well for charging, the company provides 3A fast charger for all its variants.
Pedal Assist And Riding Mode:
The mountaineer comes with 5 levels and 12 magnets pedal assist sensors. But as the sensor is not dustproof, so you need to be careful while riding in the rain. You have to maintain it properly so that it works flawlessly all the time. The levels of pedal assist can be controlled by a multi-function backlit LCD display. You can also access the walk mode at 6kmph of speed, and cruise mode at 30kmph+ speed.
Wheels And Suspension:
The bike comes with 26″ x 4″ fat nylon tires. That performance of the tires is pretty well on Indian terrains. The tires have better friction on roads and perform well, especially on mud, snow, and sand. There is a front fork suspension that has a travel of 120mm. The travel of the suspension is smooth and is good for bumpy roads and potholes, even the off-roading performance will be much better on this fat bike.
Gear System And Brakes:
Unlike most of the ebikes in the market, the bike comes with an 8-speed Shimano gear system, and an Altus rear derailleur. The performance of the gear is much better compared to Tourney gear. The 8-speed combination gives enough freedom to ride the bike with heavy loads, even the incline rides will be much easier on this as compared to 7-speed gears. Well for the shifter, the company is claiming that they are giving the original SIS shifter with this bike. So there won’t be a problem with shifting as well. The braking system comes with 160mm made-in-India dual mechanical disc brakes and also has an auto safety cut-off feature on both brakes, which means when applying the brakes, it cuts off the motor from surging ahead.
Additional Features:
Additionally, the bike comes with an integrated horn, and a battery-operated headlight with dedicated switches. In addition, a pair of stylish mudguards can also be seen in this new edition. Apart from these the bike also has an ignition key to start the bike. So without permission, no one can access your bike in your absence. The company is also providing accessories like a tool kit, a number wired lock, a pair of footrests, and a battery-operated taillight for additional safety.

Warranty:
With Mountaineer you will get 18 months of warranty on the battery, 12 months on the motor, controller, charger, and the rest of the electric components. Also, there are 2 years of warranty on the frame as well.

So on paper, the new Mountaineer electric fat bike looks quite promising, there are many surprising features that can be seen on this bike which undoubtedly help the bike to perform much better on Indian road conditions. The bike has loaded with almost all the basic features a standard ebike should have along with a powerful 350w BLDC motor and a 17A controller. Even it has a 120mm suspension, a highly efficient Panasonic battery, and an 8-speed Shimano Altus gear system. So there is no doubt about the performance of the bike. The after-sales service of the company is also good and the same can be expected with the all-new Mountaineer electric fat bike. But yes, the seat could be improved for better comfort, and preload adjuster should be there with the suspension, so that rider can get the freedom of controlling the travel of the suspension.
