by Toroid Rudra V1.1: Rudra V1.1 is the successor of the previously launched Rudra. The V1.1 also comes in a 100km riding range lineup. Based on customers’ feedback, the company has made some changes to this bike and upgraded few features to enhance its performance. So let’s have a look at the changes and find out whether it performs better than the predecessor or not.
Same Design And Build Quality:
The Rudra V1.1 is the same bike that comes with the same frame design. It’s an aerodynamic frame that has ergonomically designed. They have also introduced a new color option with a primary matt black and secondary neon green finish i.e. is truly eye-catching and never goes unnoticed.
The bike also comes with the same frame materials, the 17″ frame is made of alloy steel that is solid and robust in nature. Alloy steel is the same material used in making cars and motorcycles, it is not only strong but durable too. But it’s a bit heavy. The bike weighs 25kg with a carrying capacity of up to 120kg.
More Powerful Motor:
The main improvements can be seen in its motor. In the previous model, the customers were demanding to have a more powerful motor so that they can easily climb the steep. Actually, they wanted a hassle-free single-speed electric bike with less maintenance and a highly efficient motor. The motor needs to be so powerful that can climb the hilly road without shifting the gears. So this is why based on this feedback, the company upgraded the controller and tune the motor in such a way so that it generates more power than before and eventually they succeeded to do that. So now with the help of pedal assist and single speed, the new Rudra V1.1 can easily climb on steeps without putting in much effort. The new version runs on a 36v/250w BLDC rear hub motor that generates up to 36nm torque.
Bigger Battery Options:
The second changes can be seen in its battery. The base model of the predecessor came with a 7.5Ah battery pack and that was not sufficient for everyone, customers were asking for more range with a bigger battery pack. So for the customers’ demand, the company now has upgraded its base model from 7.5Ah to 10Ah and 12.5Ah to 15Ah. The 20Ah option will also be available.
Better And Fast Charger:
As the batteries are upgraded with bigger ones, charging with a 2A charger could be a bit slower. So to get rid of it, the company has upgraded the charger from 2A to a bit faster 3A charger, and like before, you will get a 5Amp charger with the 20Ah battery and that takes 3.5 hours – 4.5 hours to charge. Once the battery gets charged then per charge as per battery capacity, the bike is able to go up to
- 30-40km on Throttle Mode (with 10Ah Battery)
- 50-60km on PAS Mode (with 710Ah Battery)
- 40-50km on Throttle Mode (with 15Ah Battery)
- 60-70km on PAS Mode (with 15Ah Battery)
- 60-70km on Throttle Mode (with 20Ah Battery)
- 90-100km on PAS Mode (with 20Ah Battery) on a flat road.
- 70-90km on PAS Mode (with 20Ah Battery) in traffic condition.
Please note, the mentioned ranges were achieved in a combination with 50% throttle and 50% pedal assist by using level 1 or 2 assistance maximum times. So the actual range may vary for every individual due to body weight, road condition, and acceleration.
Better Pedal Assist:
As the customers wanted a single-speed electric cycle, but at the same time, they wanted a powerful pedal assist mode so that they can climb steep effortlessly. The earlier version had only a single level of assistance and that was not tunable as per requirements. So this is why the company has upgraded the single-level assist mode to a powerful 3 levels of assistance with 12 magnets dual sensor. The new PAS system has enough speed to climb easily on the hilly roads, even with the help of this pedal-assist you can easily ride this bike at 30kmph+ speed. The default speed of the bike is 25kmph.
Same Wheels And Suspension:
The new Rudra V1.1 comes with the same wheels and the suspension system. It has 26″ wheels combined with double-walled alloy rims. There are 2.35″ MTB tires by Generic that perform well on most terrains. Well for a smoother riding experience, it comes with an 80mm front fork suspension. The bike also has a seat post-spring to absorb the rear jerks, but sadly it doesn’t perform well as claimed.
Same Gear System And Brakes:
There are no changes have made to the gear system and brakes. It is a single-speed geared electric bicycle (7-speed gears variant is also available with Rudra Pro) and comes with 160mm made-in-India dual mechanical disc brakes by Sprandom that also have an auto safety cut-off feature. That means when applying the brakes, it cuts off the motor from surging ahead.
New Included Features:
For a convenient ride and customers’ demand, the company now has added a rear rack to the bike. So while riding you can keep your backpack to get burden-free from your shoulders. Additionally like the previous one, the bike sports a horn, a pair of mudguards, a headlight. Apart from this the bike also has an ignition key to start the bike. So without permission, no one can access your bike in your absence. The company is also providing bike insurance that covers theft and accidental damage protection with an extra charge. 1-year warranty on all mechanical and electric components.

Verdict:
The new Rudra V1.1 is an upgraded one. The company has mainly worked on their customers’ feedback and upgraded the bike as per their requirements. To enhance its overall performance, the company has also made some changes internally, so now it definitely performs better than its predecessor. But still, being a single-speed electric bike with a present market scenario, the base model that comes with a 10Ah battery seems a bit expensive in a comparison with other bikes in the market. So it is better to go with the bigger variant if you really want a single-speed bike that runs up to 100km.
