Enigma R7 is a new member of the ebike series of NINETY-ONE Cycles. Enigma is a hybrid electric cycle that comes with a multi-speed gear system. Although, there are many electric cycles in the market but hybrid electric cycles are very limited in numbers. So thanks to the Ninety One cycles who brought hybrid ebikes in the Indian market at an affordable price. So let’s look at the features and find out whether it is worth buying.

Design And Build Quality:
The design of the bike is very much identical to the Spectre 700C and comes with the same standard 18″ frame design which is made of hi-tensile carbon steel. The frame is quite robust in nature and durable too and the good thing is the company is giving a lifetime warranty on the frame but to avail of the benefit you need to register the bike on the company’s official website. Because of the steel frame, the bike is comparatively lighter than the predecessor, it weighs around 22. kg including the battery and it can bear up to 100kg of load. The bike has a 10″ seat post and is ideal for 5′.5″ to 5’10” riders.

Motor And Its Torque:
Enigma R7 runs on a 250w IP65 BLDC rear hub motor and the good thing is it has good pulling power as it is able to generate a maximum 40nm torque. Well, as per government norms the top speed is restricted to 25kmph.
Battery And Its Range:
The bike is powered by a 36v/6.36Ah non-removable Lithium-ion battery by Panasonic. The battery is quite efficient and can give 2000 charging cycles. The battery gets charged in just 3 to 4 hours by a 2A charger. On a single charge, you can travel around 18 – 25km 40km* on throttle mode. Whereas, on pedal-assist mode, you will get around 30 to 35km* of range.

Pedal Assist:
For the pedal assist, this bike comes with 5 levels of pedal assist mode backed by 12 magnets sensor, and the same can be controlled by an IP66 LED display which is mounted on the handlebar of the bike.

Wheels And Suspension:
Enigma R7 is a hybrid bike and comes with 700c wheels combined with anti-skid hi-traction Ralson tires, and as usual, this bike also comes with double-wall alloy rims. The bike has no suspension and comes with a rigid fork, and that performs well on paved roads. But on rough roads, it may feel uncomfortable.

Gear System And Brakes:
Enigma R7 is a 7-speed geared electric cycle that comes with a Tourney rear derailleur at the rear and SIS Index Shifter. The shifting of gears on this bike is smooth and quick. The bike comes with 160mm dual mechanical disc brakes. The stopping power of the brakes is good and performs well on paved roads. But the good thing is, that these are electric brakes, which means it comes with an electric cut-off system. So when applying the brakes, it immediately cuts off the motor from accidentally surging ahead.

Additional Features:
Additionally, the bike has an ignition key to start the bike. So without permission, no one can access your bike in your absence. But sadly, there is no headlight, no horn or mudguards present on the bike.

Price:
The bike is exclusively launched on Amazon by Ninety One and is currently (as of 10/06/2022) available for ₹29999.
For assembly of the ebike or any further support, you can contact the company on this number +91 93169 34146 or an email at [email protected].
Warranty:
With Enigma R7, you will get 2 years of warranty on the battery and motor, and, 1 year on the other electrical and mechanical components, and on the frame, you will get a lifetime of the warranty.

Verdict:
So specification and features wise Enigma R7 is a good entry-level hybrid electric cycle. Because comparatively, it has a bigger battery by Panasonic, comes with dual electric disc brakes, has 5 levels of pedal assist, and surprisingly it comes with an ignition key lock too. So at this price range, you won’t get these features in the same category of ebikes in other brands. But still, I feel the price is a bit on the higher side, and even you need to compromise with horn, mudguards, and headlight like features, other than these, if you love to ride a hybrid bike, if your daily commute limit is around 30 – 40km, if your purpose is for only city commute, and if you are a brand conscious, and doesn’t want to compromise with basic safety and security then surely you can consider this bike.
ATTENTION:*Please note, the actual riding range may vary for every individual due to body weight, road condition, level of assistance, and acceleration.
