Nahak Motors Garuda, An Electric Cycle That Purely Made In India, Price, Features

GARUDA is a 100% made-in-India electric cycle launched by Nahak Motors under the Central MSME ministry of state Shri Pratap Chandra Sarangi. Nahak Motors Private Limited is an Electric Vehicle manufacturing company based out of Faridabad, Haryana. Nahak Motors has one of India’s largest variety of Electric Mobility solutions on sale ranging from E-Cycles, E-Scooters, Electric Motorcycles, and Electric Three wheelers, and now the company has come up with its first electric bicycle the Garuda. So without further ado let’s jump into the features and specifications of the bike.

Design And Build Quality:

Garuda comes with an aerodynamic sleek frame design. It has a curved crossbar for riders’ comfort. The black matte color finish looks great and goes well with white branding. The 14.5″ frame is made of alloy steel that is strong and durable but at the same time, it’s a bit heavy around 25kg including the battery, but it can carry up to 120kg of load.

Motor And Speed:

The 250w BLDC hub motor performs pretty well even with a heavy load. It’s a 36v motor and generates up to 30nm torque. The maximum speed you will get with the bike is 25kmph.

Battery And Its Range:

The bike is powered by a 36v/7.5Ah lithium-ion removable battery pack. Although you have options to upgrade the bike with 10.4Ah or 14.5Ah battery pack. All these batteries come with 1000 charging cycles. Well, the replacement cost of the 7.5Ah battery is ₹7670.

For charging, you will get a 2A charger with the bike that helps to charge these batteries in 3 – 5 hours (based on battery capacity). After get fully juiced up the bike with the 7.5Ah battery pack gives you 25 – 30km of riding range on throttle mode, whereas on pedal assist mode this will give you around 40 – 50km of riding range. But if you upgraded the bike with a bigger battery variant, you can get a range of up to 70km on a single charge. There are 5 levels of pedal assistance that help you to achieve these ranges on a single charge.

Wheels And Suspension:

The bike comes with 26″ wheels combined with 2.35″ all-weather nylon tires. The grips are good on the tires and perform well on most of the terrains. A front fork suspension also can be seen that comes with 50mm travel and helps to absorb small bumps on the road, but as it has less travel, you can not expect much from this.

Gears And Brakes:

Although the default model comes with a single-speed gear system, you can upgrade the bike with a 7-speed gear system by Shimano for an extra ₹2599. For the braking system, it has 160mm dual disc brakes that come with a safety cut-off feature that helps to disengage the motor from surging ahead when the brakes are applied.

Accessories:

There is no accessory that comes along with the bike, only you will get a digital multi-function LCD display. Although they have options for mudguards, gel seats, front baskets, and rear carrier-like accessories, but you need to pay for these for extra charges.

Price And Availability:

As for the pricing, the default model comes with a price tag of ₹31999, but if you upgrade the bike with a 10.4Ah battery pack then you have to pay an extra ₹2499, and ₹5999 for a 14.5Ah battery pack. The pre-booking has been already started and the same can be done from the company’s official website i.e. nahakmotors or even you can contact at 8448440922/+918895117272.

The company gives you 2 years of warranty on the battery and 1 year for the rest of the components.

Verdict:

Garuda is a nice electric bicycle that comes with promising specs and features. The best part of the bike is it’s a 100% made-in-India electric cycle. The price of the bike is also very competitive as per the market scenario. But still, a few things could have been better, like

  • the frame size of the bike is comparatively small only 14.5″, so it might not be suitable for everyone,
  • the suspension has only 50mm travell and it won’t perform well on gravel and potholes, at least 80mm travell should be there,
  • there is no security system in the bike, so in your absence while parking on thje road, anyone can aceess the bike,
  • there is no headlight and horn in the bike, and these are the basic accessories which every ebike should comes with,
  • it has external cable routing and that looks messy, although thewires are water resitant but spoils the look of the bike.

So apart from the above cons, if you are looking for an Indian-made electric bike that has a good performance with bigger battery options at a competitive price range then you can consider this bike.
